This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why we process it, and the choices you have when using Lovio and our website. Lovio is intended only for adults aged 18 and older.

When you create an account and build your profile, we process the information you choose to provide, such as:

Sign-In Data

You can sign up and sign in with email, Apple, or Google. Depending on the method you choose, we process your email address and the authentication data needed to create and secure your account. When you use Apple or Google, we may receive a provider user ID and, if shared, your email address.

Photo Verification Data

Lovio offers photo verification so people can show they are real. If you choose to verify, we process a verification selfie and your verification status to confirm the selfie matches your profile photos. See the "Face Verification and Face Data" section below for how this is handled.

Activity and Content Data

To provide the app experience, we process content and interaction records such as:

Location Data

With your permission, Lovio may use your device location to detect your country and show you relevant profiles. You can set or change your location, and you can control location access in your device settings. Lovio does not display your precise location to other users.

Device and Technical Data

We process basic technical information (such as device type, app version, and diagnostic data) needed to operate the app, keep it secure, and troubleshoot problems.

How We Use Your Information

We use information to operate and improve Lovio, including to:

Face Verification and Face Data

Lovio requires selfie verification before an account can access the platform. This verification is used only to confirm that the person taking the verification selfie matches the profile photos uploaded during registration.

  • Purpose: Face images are used only to verify identity during account verification.
  • Face data retention: Lovio does not permanently retain face data or verification selfies after verification is completed.
  • Storage period: Verification images are processed temporarily during the verification process and are deleted immediately after the verification is complete.
  • What we keep: Only the verification result (for example, Verified or Not Verified) may be stored with your account.
  • Third party: Verification images are securely processed using Amazon Rekognition, a service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), solely to perform the requested identity verification.
  • Reason for sharing: Images are shared only to compare the verification selfie with the profile photos uploaded by the user.
  • Third-party retention: Lovio does not instruct Amazon Rekognition to retain verification images after processing. Please refer to Amazon Web Services documentation for details about its processing practices.
  • No biometric identification: Lovio does not use face data to identify users across other users, databases, or services, and does not create biometric templates or facial recognition profiles.
  • No sale of face data: Lovio never sells face data or shares it with advertisers.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Lovio offers an optional paid subscription, Lovio Platinum, which unlocks features such as seeing who sent you a Hey, unlimited Heys, an ad-free experience, additional daily chats, Travel Mode, and a priority boost. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by Lovio, and we do not receive or store your full payment card details. We process your subscription and entitlement status so we can provide and restore your benefits.

Advertising

Lovio may show ads to users who are not subscribed to Platinum. Advertising may be provided through third-party services such as Google AdMob, which may process limited device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Platinum removes ads.

Notifications

With your permission, Lovio sends push notifications for events such as new Heys, matches, and messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Safety and Moderation

Lovio includes reporting and blocking tools to help protect the community. We may review reports, apply enforcement actions for guideline violations, and use moderation systems to reduce fake, abusive, or explicit content. Our goal is to support a respectful dating experience for adults.

How We Share Information

With Other Lovio Users

Your profile information and in-app activity (such as your photos, bio, and the Heys you send) are visible to other users based on how the app works. Your verification selfie is never displayed publicly to other users.

With Service Providers

We use service providers — such as hosting, database, messaging, analytics, verification, and advertising providers — to operate Lovio. This includes providers such as Google Firebase (hosting, database, notifications) and Amazon Web Services (verification).

For Sign-In and Purchases

We rely on Apple, Google, and email providers to authenticate accounts, and on the Apple App Store and Google Play to process purchases.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose data when required by law or when necessary to protect users and the platform.

What We Never Do

Data Security

We apply technical and organizational controls intended to protect Lovio systems and user data. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to safeguard account, chat, and verification information appropriately.

Account Recovery and Deletion

You access Lovio through the email, Apple, or Google account you used to sign up. If you sign in with Apple or Google and lose access to that provider account, recovery may depend on restoring access with the provider first. You can request account deletion from in-app settings, which starts the removal of your profile and related account data from Lovio systems.

Children's Privacy

Lovio is a dating app strictly for adults aged 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the service. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may remove it.

International Users

Lovio is available globally. Data may be processed in countries where our providers operate infrastructure.
